What do you do?

My job is two-fold: I work to build partnerships between academia and the commercial space sector, and I also do research on martian surface processes.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I love getting paid to look at Mars every day. How cool is that?!

What inspired you to enter into your field?

I grew up watching a lot of Star Trek, and that inspired me to get into the sciences. But it was watching the Sojourner rover drive off the Mars Pathfinder lander and onto the surface of the Red Planet in 1997—via an animated GIF returned from the lander—that really got me into Mars specifically.
